Fraxel Your Way to Better Skin

Fraxel RepairAt the Laser Center of Maryland we use the Fraxel Restore Laser and the Fraxel Re:pair Laser to resurface and repair wrinkled and sun damaged skin.  Every customized laser rejuvenation involves a mix of lasers carefully chosen for your skin renewal needs. Fraxel  laser treatments effectively tighten and improve the skin with your choice of a minimal downtime with Fraxel Restore, or a longer downtime with WOW results using the Fraxel Re:pair.

How do Fraxel treatments work?

Fraxel lasers can target thousands of microscopic areas of skin by penetrating beneath the skin’s surface into the dermis layer below. Here the laser energy triggers a “healing” response in the body. This healing response sheds old, damaged skin cells and replaces them with new skin cells. It also initiates new collagen production in the target areas. This is important because collagen is the protein that is responsible for the skin’s underlying structural support. The mix of lasers used with your customized plan also targets uneven pigmentation, broken blood vessels and wrinkly skin.

Fraxel lasers are so precise they can be targeted to deliver the laser energy into anywhere from 5 to 50% of the skin in an area. That leaves the other 5 to 50% untouched, so healing is quick and easy. That’s why at the Laser Center of Maryland we can use Fraxel lasers to restore delicate areas such as the neck, chest, and hands, in addition to the face.

What do these lasers treat?

Fraxel is FDA approved for many skin problems:

  • Acne scars
  • Post-surgical scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Large pores
  • Wrinkles
  • Age and sun spots
  • Melasma
  • Uneven pigmentation
  • Texture
  • Precancerous lesions

How long do the treatments take?

Our treatments take 45 to 60 minutes, but we also apply lidocaine cream one hour prior to your treatment to eliminate any irritation or pain. The doctors also offer oral medication and lidocaine blocks to make you more comfortable. You must have a driver when given oral medications.
