Get Rid of Those Razors and Get Rid of the Hair

Laser Hair Removal severna park MD | Laser Center of MarylandGetting rid of unwanted hair can be harder than getting rid of those commercial emails that keep coming day after day even after you try and unsubscribe. You shave, pluck, wax, and use foams that probably have a similar chemical background with napalm, but the hair just keeps coming back.

But you can get rid of those hairs permanently at the Laser Center of Maryland with our laser hair removal.

We use three lasers — Apogee, Broadband Light, and Long Pulse Yag — in hair removal. They are excellent at selectively targeting only the hair follicles, leaving the surrounding tissue unaffected. Plus, we can treat large areas quickly. For instance, treating a person’s back only takes around one hour.

How does laser hair removal work?

In laser hair removal, a specific wavelength of laser light is passed through the skin and targets the hair follicle. Once it contacts the dark pigment of the hair follicle, the light turns to heat and damages the follicle, preventing future hair growth. The procedure isn’t painful, most people equate the laser pulses to feeling as if a person lightly snapped a rubber band on their skin, but we apply a topical numbing cream prior to treatment anyway to keep our patients comfortable.

Why does it take more than one treatment?

All of the hair on your body at any moment is growing at different stages of the growth cycle. There are four stages and the best time to hit the hair is when it is in the anagen, or growing, phase. But some hairs will be in the transition and resting phases, others in the new hair phase. So, while some hairs will present themselves at the optimal time, others won’t be, so another session will need to be done when those hairs are in the optimal removal cycle.

Ditch the shave cream, the razor burn, the painful waxing, and all the rest. Get laser hair removal at the Laser Center of Maryland. Call us at 410-544-4600 to make your appointment.
